- Establishment: The Ph.D. Program in Movement and Training Sciences was established in 2023 under the Institute of Graduate Studies, within the Department of Coaching Education.
- Received Degree: Graduates who successfully fulfill all program requirements are conferred the degree of “Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).”
- Type of Degree: Doctoral level.
- Language of Instruction: Turkish.
- Quota: The quota for each semester is determined based on the recommendation of the Head of Department and approval of the Board of Intitute of Graduate Studies. The maximum quota approved by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) is 15 students per term. Student admissions are announced in accordance with the Institute of Graduate Studies regulations.
Program in Movement and Training Sciences (PhD)
- ABOUT THE PROGRAM
- APPLICATION, ACCEPTANCE AND REGISTRATION CONDITIONS
- Admission Requirements: Applicants holding a Master’s degree with thesis, or a non-thesis Master’s degree obtained prior to 2013, and who have completed at least one undergraduate or graduate program -preferably in the departments of the School of Physical Education and Sports or the Faculty/School of Health Sciences, though graduates of other programs- are eligible to apply. Candidates must have obtained a minimum score of 55 in the ALES (Quantitative–Verbal) exam. Additionally, candidates must have achieved a minimum of 55 in the YDS or YÖKDİL, or an equivalent qualification in a recognized foreign language examination within the last five years.
- Assessment and Acceptance: Evaluation criteria are established at the beginning of each term depending on recommendation by the head of department and approval by the Board of the Institute of Graduate Studies. Candidates may be required to take written/oral scientific examinations or submit a portfolio. Successful candidates must complete their final registration within the dates specified in the academic calendar.
- Enrollment Conditions: Applicants must hold diplomas from undergraduate and graduate programs regarded as equivalent by YÖK, as affirm by the head of department and approved by the Institute of Graduate Studies. Relevant ALES and foreign language scores must be obtained within valid periods specified by ÖSYM. Enrollment requirements are determined and published each term.
- Recognition of Prior Learning: Previous courses and academic achievements may be recognized in accordance with university regulations, allowing for exemptions from certain courses. Such recognition and exemptions are processed upon the student’s application, recommendation by the Head of Department, and approval by the Board of Institution of Graduate Studies.
- Scholarships and Tuition Fees: Scholarships and Tuition Fees: Scholarships and tuition fees are determined by the Board of Trustees of Istanbul Nişantaşı University in compliance with applicable regulations. Prospective students may review in accordance with the schedules published by the Institute of Graduate Studies at the beginning of each term, and apply for scholarships.
- GRADUATION CONDITIONS
- Graduation Requirements: Students admitted to the Doctoral Program in the Movement and Training Sciences must successfully complete seven courses totaling 21 credits within two semesters. Additionally, students are required to take seminar course in the second semester, complete the doctoral qualifying examination in the third semester, present a doctoral dissertation proposal in the fourth semester, conduct dissertation monitoring in the fifth, sixth, and seventh semesters, and defend their dissertation in the eighth semester within the standard duration of the program. The minimum duration for program completion is eight semesters, and the maximum allowed duration is twelve semesters.
