NUTRITION AND DIETETICS (THESIS – NON-THESIS)

  • ABOUT THE PROGRAM

    1.1. Establishment
    The Master’s Degree Program in Nutrition and Dietetics (with thesis/without thesis) was established in 2022 within the Graduate Education Institute, under the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, with the aim of providing comprehensive education opportunities to students interested in health and nutrition topics.
    1.2. Degree Earned
    Students who successfully complete the program are entitled to receive a “Master’s Degree Diploma.” Additionally, depending on their field of specialization, they also obtain the title of “Expert.” This title indicates that graduates have expertise-level knowledge and skills in their respective fields of work and are eligible to apply for expert positions.

    1.4. Language of the Program
    The language of the program is Turkish.
    1.5. Quota
    The quota for the program is determined for each semester based on the recommendation of the department chairmanship and approval of the Institute Board. The maximum quota recognized by the Higher Education Council (YÖK) is 15 (fifteen) for each term. It is announced in accordance with the student admission regulations determined by the Institute.

  • APPLICATION, ACCEPTANCE AND REGISTRATION CONDITIONS

    2.1. Application Conditions
    (i) Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering fields or fundamental science disciplines that include mathematics, such as Mathematics and Physics. For graduates from other fields, a scientific preparation program is applied.
    (ii) must have a minimum score of 55 in the ALES (Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Examination) numerical score type.
    2.2. Evaluation and Admission
     The evaluation criteria for applicants are determined by the recommendation of the Department Chair and approved by the Institute Council.
    2.3. Registration Conditions
    Candidates must possess a bachelor’s diploma that is deemed suitable by the Institute Council upon the recommendation of the Department Chair and recognized as equivalent by the Higher Education Council (YÖK). Foreign Language and ALES scores must be obtained within the valid dates determined by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). The registration requirements for the program are determined and announced at the beginning of each semester.
    2.4. Rules for Recognition of Prior Learning: Students’ previous education and achievements can be recognized in compliance with the regulations, and exemptions from necessary courses can be granted accordingly. The recognition and exemption procedures are carried out upon the student’s application, the recommendation of the Department Chair, and the approval of the Institute Board.
    2.5. Scholarships and Fees: The scholarships and fees of the program are determined in accordance with the regulations by the Istanbul Nişantaşı University Board of Trustees. Prospective students can review the application and scholarship conditions announced by the Institute at the beginning of each semester and submit their applications.

  • GRADUATION CONDITIONS

    3.1. Master’s Program in Nutrition and Dietetics with Thesis:
    In order for students admitted to the master’s program in Nutrition and Dietetics with a thesis to graduate, they need to successfully complete 7 courses totaling 21 credits in the first two semesters. In addition, they are required to pass a seminar course in the second semester and successfully complete a master’s thesis in the third and fourth semesters. The minimum duration to complete the program is 4 semesters, and the maximum duration is 6 semesters.
    3.2. Master’s Program in Nutrition and Dietetics without Thesis:
    For students admitted to the master’s program in Nutrition and Dietetics without a thesis, they need to successfully complete 10 courses totaling 30 credits in order to graduate. Additionally, they are required to successfully complete a project work in one semester. The minimum duration to complete the program is 2 semesters, and the maximum duration is 3 semesters.
