MOVEMENT AND EXERCISE SCIENCES (THESIS / NON-THESIS)

  • ABOUT THE PROGRAM
    Establishment: The Movement and Training Sciences (with/without thesis) master’s program was established in 2020 under the Graduate School and is affiliated with the Department of Coaching Education.

     

    Qualification Awarded: Students who successfully complete the program are awarded a “Master’s Degree.” In addition, based on their field of study, they earn the title of “Specialist.” This title indicates that graduates possess advanced knowledge and skills in their area of expertise and are eligible to apply for specialist-level positions.

    Level of Qualification: Master’s Degree (Second Cycle)

    Language of Instruction: The language of instruction for the program is Turkish.

    Quota: The quota for the program is determined each semester based on the recommendation of the Department Chair and the approval of the Graduate School Board. The maximum number of students recognized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) is 15 for the thesis track and 30 for the non-thesis track, per semester. Admissions are announced by the Graduate School in accordance with the student admission regulations.

  • APPLICATION, ACCEPTANCE AND REGISTRATION CONDITIONS
    Admission Requirements: Applicants who have graduated from any undergraduate program — preferably from departments within the School of Physical Education and Sports or the Faculty/School of Health Sciences — are eligible to apply. For the thesis program, a minimum score of 55 in the ALES Verbal score type is required. There is no ALES requirement for the non-thesis program.

    Evaluation and Admission: The evaluation criteria for applicants are determined at the beginning of each semester based on the recommendation of the Department Chair and the approval of the Graduate School Board. Applicants may be required to take a written/oral scientific examination or submit a portfolio. Candidates who meet the criteria and are deemed successful in the examinations must complete their final registration within the dates specified in the academic calendar.

    Registration Requirements: Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree that is recognized as equivalent by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and approved by the Graduate School Board upon the recommendation of the Department Chair. Foreign language and ALES scores must have been obtained within the valid periods determined by ÖSYM. The admission requirements of the program are determined and announced at the beginning of each semester.

    Recognition of Prior Learning: Students’ prior learning and achievements may be recognized in accordance with the relevant regulations, and exemptions may be granted for equivalent courses. The recognition and exemption process is carried out upon the student’s application, the recommendation of the department, and the approval of the Graduate School Board.

    Scholarships and Tuition Fees: Scholarships and tuition fees for the program are determined in accordance with university regulations by the Board of Trustees of Istanbul Nişantaşı University. Prospective students may apply for scholarships by reviewing the requirements and deadlines announced by the Graduate School at the beginning of each semester.

  • GRADUATION CONDITIONS
    Movement and Training Sciences – Master’s Program with Thesis: Students admitted to the Movement and Training Sciences Master’s Program with Thesis must successfully complete 7 courses totaling 21 credits during the first two semesters in order to graduate. In addition, they are required to pass a seminar course in the second semester and successfully complete a master’s thesis during the third and fourth semesters.The minimum duration to complete the program is 4 semesters, and the maximum duration is 6 semesters.

    Movement and Training Sciences – Non-Thesis Master’s Program: Students admitted to the Movement and Training Sciences Non-Thesis Master’s Program must successfully complete 10 courses totaling 30 credits in order to graduate. Additionally, they must complete and pass a term project. The minimum duration of the program is 2 semesters, and the maximum duration is 3 semesters.
