INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES (THESIS / NON-THESIS)

  • ABOUT THE PROGRAM
    Establishment: The Information Technologies (with/without thesis) Master’s Program was established in 2020 under the Graduate School and is affiliated with the Department of Computer Engineering.

    Qualification Awarded: Students who successfully complete the program are awarded a “Master’s Degree.” In addition, based on their field of study, they earn the title of “Specialist.” This title indicates that graduates possess advanced knowledge and skills in their area of expertise and are eligible to apply for specialist-level positions.

    Level of Qualification: Master’s Degree (Second Cycle)

    Language of Instruction: The language of instruction for the program is Turkish.

    Quota: The quota for the program is determined each semester by the recommendation of the department head and the approval of the Graduate School Board. The maximum quota recognized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) is 15 (fifteen) students for the thesis program and 30 (thirty) students for the non-thesis program per semester. Admissions are announced in accordance with the regulations set by the Graduate School.

  • APPLICATION, ACCEPTANCE AND REGISTRATION CONDITIONS
    Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from an engineering discipline or from fundamental science fields that include mathematics, such as Mathematics or Physics. Graduates from other undergraduate programs are required to complete a scientific preparatory program. For admission to the thesis program, a minimum score of 55 in the Quantitative section of the ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam) is required. ALES is not mandatory for the non-thesis program.

    Evaluation and Admission: Candidates are evaluated by the Department of Computer Engineering based on academic and scientific criteria. Applicants who meet the relevant requirements or are deemed successful as a result of the evaluation are admitted to the program and their registration process is initiated.

    Registration Requirements:Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree recognized as equivalent by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and approved by the Graduate School Board upon the recommendation of the department. ALES and foreign language scores must be obtained within the validity periods determined by ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center). Registration requirements for the program are determined and announced at the beginning of each semester.

    Recognition of Prior Learning: Students’ prior learning and achievements may be recognized in accordance with the relevant regulations, and exemptions may be granted for equivalent courses. The recognition and exemption process is carried out upon the student’s application, the recommendation of the department, and the approval of the Graduate School Board.

    Scholarships and Tuition Fees: Scholarships and tuition fees for the program are determined in accordance with university regulations by the Board of Trustees of Istanbul Nişantaşı University. Prospective students may apply for scholarships by reviewing the requirements and deadlines announced by the Graduate School at the beginning of each semester.

  • GRADUATION CONDITIONS
    Information Technologies Master’s Program (Wiht Thesis): Students admitted to the Information Technologies Master’s Program with thesis are required to successfully complete a total of 7 courses corresponding to 21 credits within the first two semesters in order to be eligible for graduation. In addition, students must successfully complete a seminar course in the second semester and a master’s thesis in the third and fourth semesters. The minimum duration to complete the program is 4 semesters, and the maximum duration is 6 semesters.

    Information Technologies Master’s Program (Non-Thesis): Students admitted to the Information Technologies Master’s Program without thesis must successfully complete a total of 10 courses corresponding to 30 credits in order to graduate. In addition, students are required to successfully complete a term project. The minimum duration to complete the program is 2 semesters, and the maximum duration is 3 semesters.
