COMPUTER ENGINEERING (THESIS / NON-THESIS)

  • ABOUT THE PROGRAM
    Establishment: The Master’s Program in Computer Engineering (with/without thesis) was established in 2022 under the Department of Computer Engineering, within the Institute of Graduate Studies

    Qualification Awarded: Students who successfully complete the program are awarded a Master’s Degree. In addition, depending on their field of study, they may also obtain the title of “Specialist.” This title indicates that graduates possess advanced knowledge and skills in their area of expertise and are qualified to apply for specialist positions in their respective fields.

    Level of Qualification: Master’s Degree (Second Cycle)

    Language of Instruction: The language of instruction for the program is Turkish.

    Quota: The program quota for each semester is determined based on the recommendation of the Department Chair and the approval of the Institute Board. The maximum number of students per semester, as recognized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), is 15 for the thesis track and 30 for the non-thesis track. Admission announcements are made by the Institute in accordance with student admission regulations

  • APPLICATION, ACCEPTANCE AND REGISTRATION CONDITIONS
    Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering or in fundamental science disciplines involving mathematics, such as Mathematics or Physics. Graduates from other undergraduate programs are required to complete a scientific preparatory program. For admission to the thesis-based program, a minimum score of 55 in the quantitative section of the ALES exam is required. There is no ALES requirement for the non-thesis program.

    Evaluation and Admission: Applicants are evaluated by the Department Chair based on scientific criteria. Candidates who meet the relevant requirements or are deemed successful following the evaluation are admitted to the program, and the enrollment process is initiated

    Registration Requirements: Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree that is recognized by the Higher Education Council (YÖK) and deemed appropriate by the Institute Board upon the recommendation of the Department Chair. Foreign language and ALES scores must be obtained within the validity periods determined by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). The program’s registration requirements are determined and announced at the beginning of each semester.

    Recognition of Prior Learning: Students’ prior learning and achievements may be recognized in accordance with relevant regulations, and exemptions from certain courses may be granted accordingly. The recognition and exemption process is carried out based on the student’s application, the recommendation of the Department Chair, and the approval of the Institute Administrative Board

    Scholarships and Tuition Fees: Scholarships and tuition fees for the program are determined in accordance with university regulations by the Board of Trustees of Istanbul Nişantaşı University. Prospective students may apply for scholarships by reviewing the requirements and deadlines announced by the Graduate School at the beginning of each semester.

  • GRADUATION CONDITIONS
    The Master’s Program in Computer Engineering (with thesis): Students admitted to the thesis-based master’s program in Computer Engineering are required to successfully complete 7 courses totaling 21 credits within the first two semesters to graduate. Additionally, students must successfully complete a seminar course in the second semester and a master’s thesis during the third and fourth semesters. The minimum duration to complete the program is 4 semesters, and the maximum duration is 6 semesters.

    The Master’s Program in Computer Engineering (non- thesis): Students admitted to the non-thesis master’s program in Computer Engineering must successfully complete 10 courses totaling 30 credits to graduate. In addition, students are required to successfully complete a one-semester project study. The minimum duration to complete the program is 2 semesters, and the maximum duration is 3 semesters.
